Transport and Access
This is an important element of the proposals. New infrastructure and public transport provision will be required to help ensure that appropriate links are provided to, from and through the proposed development.
Traffic modelling has informed what the best solutions might be. Further work is being undertaken before any final decisions are made.
The adopted South Derbyshire District Local Plan and the adopted Derby City Local Plan support the provision of the South Derby Integrated Transport Link – a new east-west road connecting from Chellaston westwards, north of the A50. Development of the site would provide part of the Link.
The proposals also provide the option to provide a new junction on the A50 at Deep Dale Lane, if that is required in the future.
Traffic-free walking and cycling routes would be integrated into the development.
